As an organization and a community PPI stands with our Black and African-American members, neighbors, friends and family against intolerance and hate in our midst. Recently there was a spate of hateful, racist, violent messages written in public places in Putnam County and on campus (see link below for details). Though the investigations are still under way, we know enough to realize that these hateful acts have deeply hurt members of our community and made many feel unsafe and unwelcome in their homes, schools, and places of work. PPI members need to be vigilant and speak out against such intolerance and hate when we encounter it, and to offer support to all marginalized communities that intersect with our own in so many ways.
